It is Men's Mental Health Awareness Week this week. Whilst Men's Mental Health Awareness is becoming more easily spoken about, it doesn't mean that those who are close to men struggling are necessarily aware of what is going on, or even a man themself is aware.
Following on from this I talk about a fantastic book I have recently read "Reasons to Stay Alive" by Matt Haig. This is about his lived experience of depression and anxiety. The impacts on his life, mind and body. The signs he noticed in retrospect of having got to a place where he was struggling with them.
If you are looking to gain a better insight into what someone may be going through when struggling with mental health, I could not recommend this book enough. Even better, as a parent the chapters are short so it is much easier to keep track of where you are in the book!

Personal development is often something we think of in an academic way, in a work progress way, and in a personal challenge that is being actively worked on way. However, in just 8 days I have come to realise I have made progress that I didn't even know I was making.
Having spent years working to live alongside my anxiety, and years also thinking that I had successfully done so in the best way I possibly can I have had 2 major breakthroughs within 8 days.
It has led me to realising that personal development and personal growth are just that, personal. In one of these breakthroughs I watched as all 3 of my kids broke through new doors of personal growth, whilst doing so myself. We all had a new found freedom from this and I now know that there may still be more progress to make that I wasn't even aware of!

Last week was Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week which, on hearing about, completely inspired me to do something I have considered doing many times, but never taken the leap in to.
Last week on social media I put up a brief history of my Maternal Mental Health experiences. I have also opened the Happy Little Futures Hub on Facebook for parents, teachers and others who support children to use as a safe space to chat, share experiences and also somewhere for me to share extra tips, tricks and maybe even host the occasional live meditation!
This week I am being extremely vulnerable. Opening myself, up more about my experiences since COVID in particular, but also since I was a kid. I talk more about how I came out the other side of one of the darkest times of my life and my Rediscovery (the subject of this years Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week).

As I mentioned last week, the start to this year has not been a particularly smooth one. With upset and frustration from our middle child, which is having a knock on effect throughout the family.
This week I talk about how we have taken a step back to find a way to help him work through this time.

Seeing your child struggle with emotions, feelings and changes is difficult. However, what can be just as difficult is knowing when to advocate for them, how far to push, and whether it is something you need to keep on with.
Maybe it's the time of year, maybe it's something else, but our eldest is definitely more anxious than normal. Today I talk about ways in which I'm educating her and advocating for her at school to help her manage her anxiety.
Not only that, but also how it is something that I need to work on with regards to my own trust and anxiety.

Hi, I'm Lucie, a Family Meditation Coach, and mum to 3 and a dog. Follow me and my family's journey to becoming a more mindful family.
Using a variety of meditation and mindfulness techniques I have been helping each member of our family to create their own mental health toolkit since Covid-19 took hold in 2020.
Now, a few years later the full effects of this are starting to show and it has brought our family closer, and allowed me to reconnect with myself more fully for the first time since becoming a parent.
